Mojica passed away due to bronchopneumonia; The funeral will take place this Thursday (02/20) starting at 4 pm, in the MIS auditorium, in São Paulo, and will be open to the public
Filmmaker José Mojica Marins, better known as Zé do Caixão, died at the age of 83 in São Paulo, this Wednesday (02/19). He directed and released more than 40 films. Mojica passed away due to bronchopneumonia. The wake will take place on Thursday (20/02) starting at 4 pm, in the auditorium of the MIS (Museum of Image and Sound), in São Paulo, and will be open to the public.
He had been hospitalized for more than 20 days at the Santa Maggiore hospital with pneumonia. “My father was very weak since the beginning of the year,” his son Crounel Marins, who was in Orlando, USA, told UOL, and was preparing to return with his family to the funeral.
Mojica suffered a heart attack in 2014 and has since had growing health problems. The fixed catheter placed for the dialysis procedure, since it was like a compromised kidney, was a constant source of infections, with what occurred last month and led to his hospitalization and which evolved to pneumonia.
Mojica was reclusive due to weakness and mental degeneration caused by old age. “It was not Alzheimer's, but an age problem. He always smoked a lot, drank, had a bad diet and did not exercise ”, said his son.
